UCI MESA COURT
LOCATION: Irvine, CA - STATUS : In Construction - COMPANY: Hathway Dinwiddie Construction Co.
The UCI Mesa Court Community Center is a major expansion within the university’s freshman housing district, adding a new hub for dining, student programs, and community space at the center of the Mesa Court complex.
The project provides an additional dining option to the Mesa Court Community with indoor and outdoor seating for 230 people as well as additional multipurpose and study rooms on the upper level.
Van Diest Bros., Inc. has been contracted to install all wet utilities for the new community center. Our scope includes new sewer mains, cleanouts, a duplex sewer-ejector station, and extensive storm-drain improvements such as ADA-rated catch basins, junction-structure tie-ins, and a modular wetland treatment system. The scope also includes new domestic and fire water systems, including C900 pipeline, backflow devices, hydrants, and fire-riser connections.
Because the project is surrounded by active student housing, a sound wall was built around the site to reduce noise. Van Diest Bros., Inc. helped re-work utility routing so all sewer, water, and storm-drain work could be constructed entirely within this sound-wall boundary, allowing installation to proceed safely and without schedule delays despite the tight footprint and constant campus activity.
This project highlights Van Diest Bros., Inc’s ability to find creative solutions to challenging site-constraints and perform demanding campus utility work safely and efficiently.
