Van Diest Bros., Inc. completed installation of wet utilities for CSULB’s remodeled Child and Family Center in 2025.

The renovation of the Child and Family Center supports CSULB’s effort to expand both childcare services and education facilities within the College of Health and Human Services. The new center will provide childcare services for CSULB students and faculty, while also serving as a hands-on training environment for Child Development and Family Studies students.

Situated on Beach Drive across from a major pick-up and drop-off point, the site was tight and challenging to work around. Van Diest Bros., Inc.’s scope included sewer, domestic water, and fire water lines which ran across Beach Dr.

A design change mid-way through the project tasked us with rerouting a 36-inch RCP storm drain, which also ran in the street along Beach Drive. Close coordination with 2H Construction allowed us to complete this additional work efficiently and keep the project on schedule.
